We’ve had a rogue wave of sorry surf hitting us of late:
Attack political ads, computer virus, Zika virus, storm preps, tax preps. How to escape it all?
By busting bare, well almost bare…as a Polar Bear.
That’s what rocked Long Beach, NY this Super Bowl weekend, the 13th annual Plunge for the Make a Wish foundation.
Thousands gathered for the big dip. I could feel the electricity in the air as the participants slogged across the snow-covered boardwalk to the shiny sea.
Temps were in the low 40s, water temps too. Registration time was 12:30. Splash time 1:30. But so much enthusiasm could not be contained. A burst of teens, tots, couples, families, the young, the not-so-young, jumped into the brrrrisky brine.
Safeguards were ubiquitous: Lifeguards, police, aux. police, Fire Fighters, an off shore Nassau County police launch. All to keep the day on the sunny side.
I thought I’d save a lot of words on this post and just put all it to music and photos.
Yes, it all came together in cold but good, very good…vibrations:
