My name is Lee and I live in Long Beach, NY. I’m a former Marine and retired NYC Transit Police Detective.

A blog is supposed to be a “narrowcast”, that means a focus on a niche that viewers might want to explore. And I do so to a point…on the beach.

When I’m on a beach it’s like I’m at the entrance to eternity. It’s ethereal, it’s magic, I’m struck by it with every experience. Some of you may have this sense and realized it early. I didn’t. I’m just glad I didn’t leave life without it.

Yes, this sense wasn’t always so powerful, maybe it just developed as I grew older, or maybe it was always there but I wasn’t ready for it. I don’t make the experience happen, I just let it unfold. I allow what I see before me connect with a place deep inside me, a place I once did not know of, nor did I look for. I think it’s a primitive place that is in all of us. And I think that when I relate an experience to some people it touches the same place in them, the place that connects us all. And this planet becomes just a tiny bit better with each connection. I think that’s the tide of life.

I think life is about moments and each moment is like a wave in this sea of life. To fully realize each, from swell, to breaker, to foam, is to live. And I write about the waves in this blog.

Like you, I’ve had good times and bad. But now I let the bad fade into history’s haze where it belongs and just focus on the good…right here in front of me.

It is never dull at the shore. It might seem dull if I let all the the fog of yesterday and tomorrow work to prevent the moment’s magic. The sand, surf and sky would only be a  canvas for mind-stuff to dump upon. When I don’t let that happen, even a quiet “uneventful” day, surrounded by “just” gliding gulls, scudding clouds or crashing surf, a salty poem arises before me…and I just inhale it.

Whale and claf

Whales of October, click:http://tinyurl.com/WhalesLee

But often there is much more going on. Sometimes I come upon the drama of life and death in the ongoing struggle for survival. The spring-birth of an Oystercatcher, the mid-summer death of a Sea Hawk’s prey or the October breaching of a whale and her calf. Much of it can be metaphor for many of us.

I share these moments with you with words and photos to let you feel what I feel, but my efforts cannot actually have you there; you of course, have your own moments to surrender to…and see your own unfolding of the sublime.

But I can’t limit my views to the shore alone. My “niche” is too wide, my “cast” too broad for the classic blog. Life-moments aren’t seashore-narrow to me. So I bring other moments too, some recent and some from the past. Much of it very good, some of it very sad, but all of it part of life that might resonate with some of you.

So in my blog you might read about beaches, boats, surfers and sand sculpture, but you’ll also see and hear about NYC streets, crime in the subways and Manhattan skyline sunsets. You’ll see posts about pets and police and Polar Bear plunges. You’ll see people skimming the surf on boards or strolling the sands hand in hand.

You’ll see funerals of Police Officers who paid with their lives to keep our families safe. You’ll see the veneration of veterans, the survivors, the grateful, the wounded and the dead. All who served so that we may write and read in free venues such as this blog.

    Killing Control Ideas by AFE2023

Gun Control Ideas sent to Governor Hochul, the FBI, the President, 18 Mayors of NY, NYC Police Commissioner, Congressman 4th District, Senator Schumer, my local police force, Harvard Chan School, ABC News, SpaceX.

The Gun Control Task Force is needed today.  Politicians and common sense are like oil and water.  Please read what common sense looks like.

Thank you for reading and I hope and pray someone is listening to me.

If I organized my beautiful country at this moment we would be building door scanners on all schools, hospitals, stores like there are at the airports and shipping ports plus electronic timer locks and an alarm goes off at law enforcement offices in the entire state and local law offices and at the actual place and everyone involved is trained to react in an organized way and signs placed on how to react on every store, hospital, schools, every public place about training so panic is non existent.  Starting today there should be building door scanners going on NOW, (I do not hear anyone hammering yet) with many new jobs that would be created for so many Americans.

Must have one dedicated, highly-detailed database of every red flag and questionable person entered from every doctor, every suicide phone call, every teacher, therapist, law enforcement.  Information of every red flag noticed about every person and corrupt law enforcement staff member that every law enforcement person in the country can see as soon as needed.  I used to enter every detail, as much information and detailed conversation as possible into a database when I collected money for companies in an extremely detailed way and then the entire office was up to date.  Obviously it is all about the smallest of details and if every law enforcement staff saw the red flags all those children and adults would still be alive and the corrupt and mentally ill policeman would never be able to hurt another innocent person again as well.

Law enforcement need to be paid very, very well and treated like diamonds, invincible and respected.  We must have NASA-constructed armour (super light weight and flexible) for all law enforcement all holding NASA and Intel-created HAND-HELD GUN SCANNERS to see through everything for all police staff (gun scanner created to also be able to stop guns shooting at them and to stop killing criminals and help stop corrupt law enforcement) so they know before entering a house, car, anywhere they go, through any wall, any metal, who has a gun, and can see on their database attached to gun scanners attached to The Gun Control Task Force’s database immediately shared with the FBI and country-wide law enforcement.  Must have every detail attached to everyone and every piece of equipment involved. This is the only way my idea would work at maximum efficiency.

I believe everyone should have a gun with very extensive education at all gun ranges and therapists studying everyone’s  backgrounds and checking at least 10 references, work and personal, meticulously screened by experts and there would be The Gun Control Task Force offices in every state run by American private citizens and families of victims killed by guns (they can research alot more in detail in their own cities and find gun stores, gun shows and red flag people that police cannot find or have no time) and all law enforcement and their details are attached by monitor screens directly linked to the Police and the FBI, all law enforcement can see the database monitoring the information on their Hand-Held Gun Scanners with a way to stop a shooting gun and equipped with a country-wide database.  This one piece of equipment can help save lives and keep country in check.  Statistics and seizing guns is very helpful but certainly not enough, just the tip of the iceberg.

Photo license attached by technology, all feasible, to each owned gun and manufacturers to create brand new guns and shotguns equipped with super high-tech details of the owner.  Why are ghost gun accessories still available? We can collect them but not going to the root of the problem. No one is digging deep enough.  My positive words have always been dig deeper, care more, work harder.

Genesis, the car manufacturer has sensors on their cars knowing who is entering the car, so cars are better equipped than guns and killing innocent people.  Who is setting the priorities of this extremely messed up country?  The morals, integrity and ethics have almost disappeared and all everyone cares about is themselves and money.  If we taught about nutrition, money management, human behavior and stress alleviation starting in 1st grade through 12th grade, this country would be so much more prepared and balanced in every way.  Nutrition knowledge helps balance and alleviate the extreme emotions causing anger and hate, fueled by salt and sugar which are poison to humans.  We certainly would have been better prepared for the pandemic, financially and health wise.

Human behavior knowledge awareness is common sense and if taught in schools for 12 years the country would be so much better prepared for relationships and seeing their neighbors, bosses, family members, politicians more clearly for who they truly are.  People can act in a way to fool good people and try to ruin their life just for their own entertainment and agenda.

These are people holding guns right now–The greatest truth is criminals and sick thinking humans cannot fool themselves, they know they are lying all the time and it is wrong but do it for fun for any reaction, desperately need attention, are never satisfied, think they will never get caught, believe they are smarter than everybody else, cannot feel empathy, do not care about themselves or other humans.  Narcissists, sociopaths, (look up the definitions on an online dictionary) and criminals all have an agenda that no one knows about until it is too late.  Every human has a core need to satisfy their ego, no one knows how balanced their ego truly is until someone else notices how unbalanced it really is.  Awareness and being conscious is the key to protect us from unbalanced morons with guns.

The Gun Control Task Force would be connected to every new gun by hand and finger sensors matched to their guns, ID numbers on guns, cost of bullets expensive, coded with ID number of gun owner.  If transferred to anyone else the gun immediately sets off an alarm (not in public) and goes on monitor screen and staff can stop gun working immediately and the team will know immediately where the transfer of guns to person or criminal in database is located.  I am repeating this again…The car manufacturers have sensors on their cars now knowing who is entering the car, so cars are better equipped than guns killing innocent people.

The transfer from old to new guns is feasible.  EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. The technology is here, please help get this done now.  Pay $1000 to everyone who owns a gun to trade their guns to new high tech guns. Or not.  I understand wanting to keep a double-barreled pearlized handle Colt 45. I wish I owned one.  Technology can probably upgrade existing guns as well.  We are all responsible for our present situation. Do something, anything to make the changes so no one else has to die.

Gun shows, gun dealers, gun manufacturers and all Police and the FBI need to work together and share their databases at every moment.  The paranoia is too high between all law enforcement because of corruption so must have mental health staff working with all law enforcement and set new rules with mandatory extensive monthly tests and background checks because new information always surfaces eventually, this applying to criminals as well.  Truth and justice always prevails.  I worked for Superman at DC Comics.

If we can create vaccines in record time and see galaxies from amazing telescopes, anything is possible.

  2. Hi Lee,

Great blog! On Sunday, September 27th you took some photos of my mother, my daughter and I feeding the seagulls. You were kind enough to give me your business card so I could reach out for copies, but have since lost the card and therefore your email address! Can you please let me know the best way I can connect to get a copy of those photos?

    Thank you so much!

  6. Amy,

It sounds to me like you don’t walk the beach thinking about your shopping list, the funny noise your car is making…or the recent election. You are simply there. As we all need to be.

Maybe those who are there…are present…may be said to be in the “cool club” you mention.

Thank you for your kind words about my writing and your very expressive comment on the incredible life before us all. Keep living life to the fullest.

    Be well,
